A range of social events were offered throughout the two weeks of the conference and workshops. These were a fun way to meet other students and academics and offered a great opportunity to network with people from around the world working in conservation. All social events were included in the registration fee.

Welcome BBQ

A traditional Australian welcome and the first chance to meet fellow conference delegates and guest speakers. 

 

Speed Networking

A fun and unique chance to network with guest speakers, conservation practitioners and NGO’s.

 

 

Conference Dinner

We celebrated the end of the conference presentations in a relaxed and informal setting at the Pizza café for dinner, with pizzas on us. Eat, talk and laugh, this night was all about making new friends and having fun. 

Australia Day BBQ

We celebrate this rainy Australian holiday in a uniquely Australian way with a chance to try local delicacies and meet new ASCCS friends.

 

Trivia Night

We meet for a night of fun and laughs and trivia! There is nothing like group competition to bring people together.                                     

 

Bird Walk

Our experienced birder, Hugh Possingham took participants for a walk to see some local birds. Encountering a mix of rainforest, bush, and urban-adapted birds in a variety of habitats along the Brisbane river and lake-side.

Farewell drinks

This was the participants last chance to mingle their new ASCCS friends over canapes and drinks at Brisbane’s Southbank Parklands.
